Could be . . .

Seems to me that her thumbs were way too busy for a GPS though.

I looked up the Nuvi - interesting stuff. Do you have any experience with one of those?

Glad to hear the report was good, DC.

Luckily, the people that set up this test advised me what I should do to prepare for the test, including what to wear. I just dressed like I would have if I were going for a jog - low-cut sneakers and sweats.

I'm going to have to make good on resolution #2 and get back with the jogging.

Interestingly I had a similar reaction to "strange pains and anxieties" back in June. The test came back with everything also in the OK/Normal column - but I would have done better on the treadmill if I had worn running shoes instead of some heavy clod-hoppers - I gamed myself on that one!

My point was not to complain about this law. I thought I was pointing out the lack of compliance and enforcement that will likely follow.

I cannot disagree that ANY distraction from the full-time operation of a vehicle, puts not only the driver and passengers in peril, but the public at large.

Using cell phones while driving has been a pet peeve of mine for years. One favorite bumper sticker can be seen here.

Yes only the law abiding will obey the law, and that would be pretty good for a start. This law is EXACTLY like drunk driving laws in intent though probably not in enforcement and penalties. Many will disobey each law, but with strict enforcement and high penalties, many will come to the conclusion that it is better to obey than break the law - either one. I doubt there will be strict enforcement of this law combined with high enough penalty to make much of a difference. There were and continue to be high penalties for driving while under the influence. Where there is also strict enforcement, the drunk driving rates have fallen off markedly from what they once had been, or at least deaths due to accidents caused by drunks have fallen. You often quite appropriately find fault with the law and law makers, but on this one, I truly think you missed the boat and landed in the drink. If done correctly a law making it illegal to text while driving would be quite beneficial, for example to the little kid who just crossed the road in front of you chasing his puppy. I actually believe it would be best to ban cell phone use altogether while driving, even voice activated phones that are completely hands free.

Happy New Year,

We have a gun store down the road from us that is in a small plaza. They share their sign space with a pet groomer. So the sign reads:

Guns
Pet Grooming

Jeez - that sounds good t'me.

The better half's grandfather used to put bacon and beans in a pot and hang it somewhere in the engine compartment of his old sedan and dinner would be ready for the whole family (14 kids) when they arrived at the next camp.

A friend of mine who rides/races off-road, occasionally during an Enduro race will get some aluminum foil and wrap a potato and a chopped onion alongside a piece of beef in that tin foil, and then wrap that around the header-pipes of his dirtbike - after riding around for about an hour it's ready to be peeled apart and eaten...
