Back in Arizona

welcome.jpgAfter a short, but eventful, trip to the Kalifornistan house, we’re back home. The drive back took about 5 and a half hours and was uneventful, which is a good thing - and was a good transit time, as well - it can take up to six hours or more, weather and traffic dependent.

After crossing the bridge spanning the Colorado River from Blythe, CA to Ehrenberg, AZ, we are always greeted by this welcome sign. When we see this, we know that it’s only 115 miles and another two hours before we get home. It puts us in a really good mood.

Sunday Morning Going Down

sunday-morning.jpg

I snapped this today while walking the dogs on the road in front of the new house. The temperature was a brisk 42° so the dogs and I finished our business and went back inside the cozy house seen in the (clickable) photo.

Saturday Cold Day Cuisine

We had a lot of rain last night and today it was in the low 50’s (global warming I’m sure). It seemed like a good day for some hearty soup, so The Better Half whipped up this delicious Cajun Jambalaya dish. Not bad for a white girl. :)

Jambalaya!

O.K. I’m going back to the football games.

Meatloaf

Nothing to report other than good food, good football and a good weekend. Hope yours was as enjoyable. Clickable image: home cooked meatloaf with sauteed mushrooms and gravy, mashed taters and cinnamon carrots. Yum!

Activating the Spa

Now that the weather is starting to cool off, we’re going to be using our spa again. High temperatures in August and early September ranged from 102° to 112°. Today, it was only 92°, so we decided to crank up the spa and take a dip.

Unfortunately, the water temperature was a little too cool for comfortable dipping. We decided to postpone until tomorrow when the heater will have the water up to temperature.

I turned on the air control valve and shot the short video above to demonstrate the spa in full jet and bubbles mode. Click > to play video. If you don’t want the audio, click the speaker button on the right end of the control bar to mute.

In the Good Old Summertime

I went out to walk the dogs, Scratch ‘n’ Sniff, at about 3:30 this afternoon and casually snapped this image of our patio digital thermometer. But it’s a dry heat. :D

Out Among ‘Em

porkloin.pngWe had to head down US 60 today to the Valley Metro Area. Every once in a while, we have to leave our little enclave here in the country to go and get some provisions from the big city.

We had a list of things that we needed to get plus we scored a few other things to re-stock the freezer in the garage. I bought a pork loin and some pork baby back ribs. I divided the ribs into two slabs and packed them into vacuum freezer packs for later consumption. I carved the loin into several chops, a couple of thicker chops for stuffed pork loin and another couple of petite roast chunks for making pulled pork sandwiches or carnitas burritos at a later time. As it is, we don’t need to go there again for a while, although next week we may go and look at some furniture for the office.

We pity the folks that abstain from pork. And, we pity even more those that abstain from meat.
