SB 1070 Injunction Hearing

doing the jobWith all the post election day coverage, the hearing of SB 1070 (the Arizona Immigration Law) arguments by the Ninth Circuit Court went virtually unnoticed by the media.

In addition to ignoring this landmark case, the media covered very little of Jan Brewer’s campaign for reelection. It’s like the media morons think that hiding from the issues will make them go away or something.

Statement by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer:

PHOENIX [November 1, 2010] – “Today the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal’s heard arguments regarding the State of Arizona’s request to lift the injunction put in place by the federal district court in July regarding enforcement SB 1070.

“My counsel, John Bouma, argued that this case is about what a state – any state – can do about a failed federal immigration system that even President Obama acknowledges is broken. There are very serious crimes associated with this failure, including human smuggling, drug trafficking and other activities involving coyotes in Arizona, as acknowledged by Judge Bolton. Arizona is on the front line in a fight against crime that is spilling over the international border. As noted in the court record, the federal government has essentially had to cede a vast territory inside the State of Arizona to the drug runners and human smugglers.

“With a federal government that cannot or will not do its job, Arizona determined that Arizona law enforcement officers would assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws to the full extent permitted by federal law. The District Court applied the wrong legal standard of review and issued a preliminary injunction that preserves the status quo – a status quo that is unacceptable to the people lawfully present in Arizona, many whose lives are affected on a daily basis.

Although the judges asked challenging questions of both sides during this morning’s hearing, we are hopeful that after carefully considering the arguments, the Ninth Circuit will lift the stay and allow SB 1070 to be enforced. The health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Arizona are irreparably harmed every day the courts allow SB 1070 to be put on hold and the federal government refuses to enforce all immigration laws.”

Legend of the Hassayampa

This explains a lot about the President, the Veep, Squeaker of the House, and the hordes of political and media morons currently in charge . . .

From southwestblend.com:

hassayampa.jpgHumor and legend surrounds the Hassayampa River. For most of the 100-mile course it takes through the Sonoran Desert, it runs underground. Roughly translated, hassayampa is an Apache word meaning “river that runs upside down”, describing the disappearing act the river plays. In fact, in Wickenburg there is a bridge that runs over the dry bed of the Hassayampa, complete with a “No Fishing from Bridge” sign–a tribute to Andrew Downing, author of Legend of the Hassayampa. Downing recorded the early residents of Wickenburg’s tendency to exaggerate the potential of wealth of the area–so much so that a teller of tall tales soon became known as a hassayamper. Legend has it that if you drink from the Hassayampa, you too will become a hassayamper, unable to tell the truth.

At some time in the past, the Prevaricator in Chief and his faithful minions must have visited and drunk from the Hassayampa Well. The Better Half says they must have had this stuff trucked in.

Repeal the Deal

Over the past 14 months, our political debate has been transformed into an argument between the heirs of two fundamental schools of political thought, the Founders and the Progressives. The Founders stood for the expansion of liberty and the Progressives for the expansion of government. It’s an argument that has been going on for a century but was largely dormant over the quarter-century of low-inflation economic growth that followed the Ronald Reagan tax cuts. It’s been raised again by the expand-government policies of the Obama administration and Democratic congressional leaders. Those policies, thoroughly in line with the Progressive tradition, have been advanced by liberal elites in government, media, think tanks and academia. The opposition, roughly in line with the Founders tradition, has been led by the non-elites who spontaneously flocked to tea parties and town halls. … The conservative rebellions of the late 1970s and middle 1990s were focused on taxes. The tea partiers are focusing on the expansion of government — and its threat to the independence of citizens. … By passing the stimulus package and the health care bills, the Democrats produced expansion of government. But voters seem to prefer expansion of liberty.

Chicago Crime Machine Strikes Again

Using deception, thuggery, backroom deals and coercion, Chicago-style politics have foisted yet another Obamination upon American taxpayers. Revolting, isn’t it?

Two Rules for Debating Liberals

Mark Alexander offers only two rules when debating liberals in his weekly essay on The Patriot Post. To understand the entire concept, you should read the entire essay, as Mr. Alexander greatly expands on the principles behind rule number one.

The definition of leftists and liberals in rule number two should be intuitively obvious as you read the outrageous bullshit from morons in the media.

When Debating a Liberal, Start With First Principles

l-vs-r.jpgRule Number One: You must define the debate in terms of First Principles, which is to say, you must be able to articulate those principles.

Rule Number Two: You must distinguish between liberals and Leftists. The former subscribe to a plethora of contemporaneous solutions, while the latter are bona fide “useful idiots,” those Western apologists for socialist political and economic agendas that terminate with the institution of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist collectivism masquerading as regulation and taxation.
