Notions on Like-Minded Thinking in Our Town
The Better Half took this (clickable) image of a young man walking down a street talking on his wireless in our town this afternoon. We were both amused at the imagery on the shirt he had on.
We observe many indications that a lot of folks here think as we do. We see pro-gun and anti Obamination bumper stickers, Gadsden Flags and other conservative notions. Once in a while, however, we see some poor liberal bastard driving a Prius with an Obama/Biden ‘08 sticker. There always seems to be some rotten apples spoiling the barrel.
Town Reaction to UBL Demise
This is typical of most of the township’s reaction to the demise of Usama bin Laden. Notice that there is no mention of commanders but only the select US Navy Seals team that did the world a great favor.

Rumor has it that CINC (the Obamination) put the Generals and everyone else down the chain of command on hold for 16 hours “to sleep on it,” before giving the go-ahead. A lot could have happened in that window of time that may have changed the outcome of this event. Better to take your shot when you have the target in your sights rather than waiting. So much for the credit being taken by the administration. What a farce.
NOsama bin Laden
Mark Alexander of The Patriot Post made a couple of good points regarding the Obamination’s remarks last evening.
Announcing Osama’s death, Barack Obama claimed that in the aftermath of 9/11, “no matter what God we prayed to … we were united as one American family.” Horse pucky. There were many instances of Muslims within the U.S. expressing elation over Osama’s attack. Even Obama’s “pastor” Jeremiah “GD America” Wright claimed, “White America got a wake-up call after 9/11. White America … came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just disappeared as the great white West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.”
Obama took full credit for the kill, saying, “Shortly after taking office, I [made] the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority.” Apparently Obama is under the false impression that killing Osama was a low priority for the Bush administration. Killing Osama has been a top priority since Sept. 12, 2001. Perhaps he will now take full credit for everything else happening on his watch, and stop blaming Bush!
At any rate, it’s good to know that this Islamic piece of shit is gone. Remember, however, that just like in the “whack-a-mole” game, another extreme Islamic terrorist will show up soon, along with acts of revenge worldwide. It ain’t fixed until we green glass a few hotbeds, just like in WWII.
I won’t take credit for the photoshop seen here, but it’s nice to picture that liver-lipped asshole blown to hell (literally).
A Shiny Harley-Davidson
The rider of this nice motorcycle may have stopped in Wickenburg for lunch while on the way to Prescott. Buck Up for Wounded Warriors will be having a car show and riding their motorcycles in a police and fire-escorted 9/11 parade in honor of the victims of the attacks on America. The event will be in Prescott, AZ tomorrow. Visit the Buck Up site for details.
Nice bike, eh?
Flix: Charlie Wilson’s War
We have had Charlie Wilson’s War in our DVD collection for a couple of years at least. After the former Congressman’s recent death, the Better Half and I decided to watch the flick one more time. Sort of like a tribute, I guess, but more for our entertainment since we think it is an excellent film without too much left wing Hollywood crap in it.
In the flick, Tom Hanks plays the role of Charlie, a good ol’ boy politics playing Texas Congressman who gets transformed into a crusader against the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. Julia Roberts plays a role not unlike Kay Huchison, an activist anti communist socialite who prods Charlie into his eventual “war.” Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the gruff and profane CIA agent who acts as a catalyst in the transformation.
There was a sequence near the end of the flick, while Charlie Wilson is standing on the balcony with Gust Avrakotos during a party celebrating the defeat of the Soviet army in Afghanistan, Gust warns Charlie of future problems if he and the other members of Congress do not follow up on giving economic aid to the Afghani’s. As Gust finished this warning, Charlie thinks about what he said, and you hear an airliner flying over Washington DC. It is an obvious, ominous reference to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center.
As I indicated before, it is very entertaining, has lots of weapons, guns, blowing shit up, doesn’t try and make a twisted political statement and ends on a reminder of where we now live in the age of Islamic terrorism.
I rate Charlie Wilson’s War a quarter star short of five, holding back just because it was directed by the ultra-liberal Mike Nichols.
This War’s Not Won by a Damn Sight
UPDATE: Linoge points out that the expression “damn sight” is perhaps a bit too anachronistic for younger readers (see his comment below). In the context above, it means there is a significant effort remaining.
I got this poster today in an email from a former colleague, who correctly observes:
These were [created by] our parents. What in God’s name have we let happen?
I guess we are the last generation to see, or even remember anything like these [posters]? Whatever happened? Political correctness (or “re-education”) happened, lack of God’s name happened, lack of personal responsibility happened, lack of personal integrity and honesty happened, lack of respect and loyalty to our country happened, lack of being an American happened.
The Obamination and many in power in both houses of Congress seem to want the “Fight for America” and “Fight the Enemy” spirit to disappear. They demonstrate this by reading Miranda to terrorists, prosecuting men and women in the armed forces for “crimes,” and staging massive terror “circus trials” in order to demean the War on Terror.
Much of the WWII “get behind the troops” spirit seems to be gone.
(As an aside, note the venerable 1911 pistol the soldier in the poster is holding.)
