Sheriff Joe’s Money Quote
Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio, in a radio interview, told a reporter that he will not enforce any federal laws that attempt to confiscate guns from lawful citizens who are entitled to posses them. The sheriff indicated that he had taken an oath to uphold the Constitution of the US and were he to enforce any Federal confiscation order, it would amount to a violation of that oath.

Arpaio joins a number of law-enforcement officials around the country that are essentially saying the same thing. There is a very strong sentiment in Utah, where 28 of the 29 elected sheriffs have stated the same intent.
Here’s the money quote - when asked if he would enforce a ban on standard capacity (more than 10 rounds) magazine he gave the following response:
“No,” Arpaio said. “My deputies, I said before, I’m going to arm all my deputies – a month ago I said before this – with automatic weapons and semi-automatic weapons. We’re going to be able to fight back. … I don’t care what they say from Washington.”
The Better Half and I sure like living in Arizona and especially in Maricopa County.

Gotta love Joe Arpaio. Tried to stop by to visit with him when last out your way, with a few others from my ex-job, but he was not in his office that day. He is a great man.
As for the politicians and media and anti-gun nuts, I wish they would all get it right when they talk about high capacity versus standard capacity magazines. As for round count - 15 round magazines are standard capacity for many if not most 9mm semi automatic pistols, 30 round magazines are standard capacity not high capacity magazines for AK-47 variants, 20 and 30 round magazines are standard capacity and are not high capacity magazines for AR15s.
All the best,

The Better Half and I were fans of Sheriff Joe long before we moved to Arizona. He was here in Wickenburg last fall during his re-election campaign, but we were not able to go to the event where he spoke. Maybe next time.
When McCarthy spoke out about magazine bans after the Tucson shooting, I ordered a 33 round magazine for my Glock 26 (Little Boy). I didn’t need one and have little use for it, but bought it just because she opened her pie hole about the issue. There seems to be a lot of that going on these days because of all the open pie holes in Washington.
