New to the Video Library

search.jpgI ordered three copies of “In Search of the Second Amendment” last week. The shipment promptly arrived in my PO Box just two days after I placed the order.

I sent the extra copies to my sister and our nephew, both living in California and both gun owners. The Better Half and I will start viewing our copy this evening.

I only recently found out about this DVD although it was released in December of 2006. We will post a review after we finish watching the video. We’re going to watch it a bit at a time over several days.

In Search of the Second Amendment is a documentary film on the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. It was produced and directed by American author and attorney David T. Hardy. He argues the individual rights model of the Second Amendment. Hardy also discusses the Fourteenth Amendment.

Ordering details and reviews may be found on the “In Search Of The Second Amendment” website here.

Time to Shoot Using My “Carolyn Clip”

c-clip.jpgI can’t believe that it has been almost a year since I acquired my “Carolyn Clip” high-capacity 9mm magazine. I plan to take “Little Boy” to the range on Friday and empty thirty-three rounds using this magazine.

I bought the magazine last January after Rep. Carolyn McCarthy introduced H.R. 308, the “Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act.” McCarthy, (D-NY), introduced this idiotic knee-jerk legislation after the tragic Tucson shooting where a mentally-ill individual used one of these to kill several people and seriously wound Rep. Gabby Giffords.

At the time, I said I didn’t need one of these until that bitch told me I couldn’t have one. I’ll post a range report on Friday.

Go, Granny!

This is really funny. Clickable image (if you want to read the text).

What’s For Dinner?

chix-chili-verde.jpg

Tex-Mex Chicken Chili Verde with Cornbread. The Better Half blends chopped broccoli, diced potatoes, chopped celery, tomatillos, a chopped Anaheim chili and shredded chicken with all the appropriate savories and spices in a crockpot. Shown here, the chili is served with cornbread on the side and garnished with avocado slices and freshly-ground black pepper. We enjoyed this good stuff during halftime of today’s Senior Bowl college football game. Clickable image.

Target Practice

gunz.jpgThe Better Half and I went to the range today for our weekly target practice session.

The firearms shown in the (clickable) image at the right are the ones we practiced with today. Top to bottom, The Better Half’s unnamed S&W 908S 9mm pistol, “Fat Man,” my Glock 30 .45ACP pistol and “Jerry Lee,” my S&W 686 .357 magnum revolver. The guns are shown on the cleaning station that we break out after each practice session.

We shot a total of 50 rounds of 9mm, 50 rounds of .45 ACP and 50 rounds of .357 magnum. All shots stayed on target (as far as we could tell) with many of them close to or on the bullseye. We don’t keep score, so both of us generally use just one target per session.

New Spyder “Trike” Spotted at the Gun Shop

spider.jpgOn our way back from grocery shopping today, The Better Half snapped this photo of a fairly new Bombardier Spyder just outside of our local gun shop. Jet black and shiny, it was parked there with a red two wheeler bike. Not that I would consider motorcycle riding at my age, but seeing them brings a wave of nostalgia for my riding days (over 30 years ago).

We did not stop at the gun shop today, but I wonder if the riders were in there looking at the guns and shooting the bull with the proprietor. It seems that every time we go in the gun store, there is a gaggle of folks in there telling gun stories and so forth. It’s like the place to go and hang out for some of the townsfolk. Maybe one of these days we will go there and hang out too. Clickable image.

State of the Obamination — More Of The Same B.S.

Same as last time around - his lips are moving . . .

According to Mark Alexander:

There was not ONE SINGLE free-market economic remedy mentioned in Obama’s entire teleprompted rhetoric last night — every “solution” was government engineering by way of intervention, regulation or redistribution. Obama ended his recitation asserting, “We should all want a smarter more effective government.” Indeed, on this we should all agree, and to that end, work tirelessly to defeat Obama and his socialist regime.

Thirty-Nine States Honor CCW With Two Permits

two-permits.png

Last night I was browsing on the USA Carry website when I discovered that they have set up their interactive map to allow you to select more than one state where you have a CCW permit. Since The Better Half and I have both Arizona (as residents) and Utah permits, we found that there are thirty-nine states where our permits are honored.

The difference of having the Utah permit only allows for us to carry in two additional states - Washington and Minnesota. Unless our travel plans happen to include these two states (which they currently do not), we’re probably going to let the Utah permits expire in 2013. Hopefully, HR 822 will get moving again and if it passes, then it won’t matter.

The usual anti-gun contingents of the northeast and on the left coast continue to deny you of your Second Amendment rights. Clickable image for the fine print.

UPDATE: Readers DrJim and Crotalus point out that I did not comment on the black hole of 2A freedom: Illinois is the only state in the union that denies the right to concealed carry to its citizens. Say, isn’t the Obamination from there?
