Along the Mother Road
We’re in Kingman, AZ tonight. Today, The Better Half caught this eclectic collection of motorized vehicles parked near Interstate 40, not far from Historic Route 66. And Right in the middle of the scene, the Mother of all Motorized Mechanizations - a classic Ford Model T. Clickable image.

I grew up in Joliet, Illinois, and vividly remember taking 66 and “66-A” down to Wilmington and Morris to see my Mom’s relatives.

As a young man, I traveled west along the Mother Road from Oklahoma City to Los Angeles in a 1937 Buick with a couple of other sailors looking for a Christmas holiday at home with family and friends.
We were in Memphis, TN, going to school to learn avionics in the Navy’s Naval Air Training Center. It turned out to be quite an adventure.
