Colt M4 Carbine
A couple of weeks ago, the Better Half and I went to the range for target practice. On the way out, I asked the rangemaster (who also serves as instructor and ammo/gun sales manager) about the S&W MP 15-22 .22LR rimfire rifle. “Piece of shit.” was the answer I got. Now, while this guy’s interpersonal skills leave room for improvement in my mind, I do trust his firearms expertise. “The Colt there,” he continued as he nodded toward the rifle rack behind the counter, “is a much better piece.” I asked to handle it so he picked it off of the shelf and let me have a closer look.
Damn! Now I’ve done it! I went and touched the damn thing and imprinted on it or something. I want one, but the catch 22 (no pun intended) is that I can’t get the model with the 30 round magazine in California - the morons in Sacramento think it’s dangerous and will infect me with the urge to be violent. So my dilemma is that I must wait until I can buy and keep one of these in Arizona. It’s a ways off, but I refuse to get one unless it’s got the higher capacity magazine.
Meanwhile, I can post this commercial message from Colt and longingly gaze at it, playing it over and over.

The bug bit ya for sure! That’s why when I went to the gun show here in phoenix last month mostly just browsed and I did tha quickly. Same kind of thing in NY. At the show I picked up some AK mags i was told were pre-ban, anfd hopefully they are for real because I can give them to my son in NY. NY still has a ban similar to the federal one that had its sunset.
All the best,
GB

Those are nice, but I think my next rifle will be a Springfield Armory M1.
Just always wanted one….

We saw the ad for the Phoenix show when we were over there. We just didn’t stay long enough to make it there.
M1 carbine or Garand, Jim? And, best wishes to you and the gf on your wedding.

The “new” M1 that looks like an M14.

I was debating which kind of Evil Black Rifle to buy at the range one day. Hmmm….223 or 308? Fred put it in perspective for me: Big rifle, big cartridge”.
223’s are nice, but when THSHTF, It would be nice to have something that really packs a punch.
Time to start some serious last minute house cleaning here. My sister and her hubby are coming in from Chicago tonight, and we want the house to be all shiny-pretty for them!
My radio room is a mess, and that’ll probably take as long as the rest of the house!
