Knives That Go Bang

With all the recent anti-knife hysteria, the knife ban situation here and non-stabbing knives in the UK, imagine how far into orbit this little beauty would send the antis in both places?

From Ubergizmo

gun_knife.gifWith muggings happening on a daily basis all over the neighborhood, make sure you do your part by picking up this G.R.A.D. .22-caliber gun which actually comes under the guise of a knife. The designer was probably inspired by the good old bayonet that soldiers relied on to perform their finishing move in case the bullet-riddled enemy has yet to give up the ghost. Each G.R.A.D. costs $699 and can hold up to 5 bullets at a time. Do you reckon you need a firearms license before making a purchase? How would you classifiy the G.R.A.D. - is it a knife with an attached gun or vice versa?

To Honor Our New Vice President

The City of Los Angeles named a street for him . . .

The bloviating veep is also backing off of the Obamination’s job creation claim:

Biden tells “Meet the Press” that “everyone guessed wrong” on the impact of the stimulus, economy was worse off than anyone thought.

Backs away from the estimate that the funds could create or save 3.5 million jobs, instead promises 600,000 by the end of the summer.

Don’t hold your breath.

Classic ‘48 Chevy Fleetline Coupe

We spotted this beauty yesterday on our way back from the HAZMAT disposal site. There’s nothing HAZMAT about this sharp ‘48 though. Clickable Image.

Columbia Conservative Examiner suggests that the Obamination should start ‘bulldozing America’ right there in the festering open-sore inner city of Washington D.C. I can remember visiting there and getting a little lost and driving through some creepy, downright scary neighborhoods. That was 20 years ago, and it’s gotten worse since. Company policy where I work states that employees visiting D.C. ’should not stay in a hotel in the District or go there after dark.’

National Gun Rights Examiner has a story about a creepy media moron that wants to round up all of us whacko right-winger hate speech promoters.

trident.gifIn a comment to the post yesterday about getting a new knife, Linoge from Walls of the City suggested he might like to get a SOG Trident TF-1 knife. Damn if that ain’t a good looking piece of hardware. Only trouble for us in the ‘Golden State of outlawing everything good,’ this ‘assisted opening’ knife is probably illegal to possess.

Update: Speaking of Taxifornia, Ride Fast has a few on-target thoughts.

Just In Case

We’ve been reading about the possibility of a Federal ban on one-handed opening folding knives. Hedging our bets on whether or not that will come to fruition, the Better Half and I went out and got a couple of these nice Schrade 3½ inch blade folding knives. I was attracted to this particular knife because of the sardonicus embedded into the handle. Skulls fit in with the theme of this website, so in the cart they went - two of ‘em.

Here is my new self-defense duo - ‘Jerry Lee‘ and ‘Mack the Knife.’

Should the Better Half and I decide to open a restaurant or other public access business after retirement, I think I would be inclined to post a sign like this one at each entrance.

We’d be packin’ too, of course.

Gunny: Lock N’ Load

Last month at the NRA Convention, the Gunny was in the Glock exhibit signing autographs. I did not wait in the lineup to talk with him, but I would have asked about his next TV gig. I ran across this item today on the R. Lee Ermey website.

This guy has one of the best jobs in the world.

R. Lee Ermey and The History Channel announce the Gunny’s NEW show, Lock N’ Load.

R. Lee Ermey takes us on a fascinating ride through the pathology of the rifle: where it came from, who thought of it, who improved it, its victories, its defeats, its impact on history and where it is now. R. Lee also calls on experts to highlight historical characters who exploited this weapon.

Airs starting in July on the History Channel.

Be sure to check your local listings.

One of the episodes is going to deal with Tanks. Ermey visited the Marine Station at Twentynine Palms in the California High Desert to film part of the episode.

From Marines.mil:

Retired Gunnery Sgt. R. Lee Ermey and his crew visited 1st Tank Battalion at the Combat Center April 13 through 15 to shoot footage for his new show, “Lock n’ Load,” on the History Channel.

The Combat Center was the best place to shoot the episode, for multiple reasons, Ermey said.

“We did away with “Mail Call” and came out with our new show, now the crew is here shooting 1st Tanks,” Ermey said.

The episode is going to follow the history of the tank, so it was vital to talk about the tank used on today’s battlefield, the M1–A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank.

Read more about the tanks episode here.

Once in a while, the Better Half and I take out our “Full Metal Jacket” DVD and watch it until Ermey’s character gets killed off. The flick sucked after that, anyhow.

L.A. Skyline

This is the skyline of part of Downtown Los Angeles as viewed from I-110 northbound. The weather was drizzle and low clouds thanks to an eddy condition commonly experienced in the late spring and summer months in Southern California.

I only passed through the downtown area, however, since my destination was another 20 miles north. Another two miles up the road, traffic slowed to fifteen miles per hour until I got past the four-level interchange. The return trip was worse, with traffic slowing through this area for ten miles or so until it loosened up. I won’t miss the traffic in this area when I retire.
