California Commuting and Stuff

How lucky am I to live in the bluest state in the Union where I can commute amongst the worst drivers in the country and pay the highest tax rates in the world? Where I can’t carry a gun to protect myself from some of the worst crime rates in the country?
Why should I be having these irrational thoughts about leaving this place?
Yes - that was my evening commute - 15 minutes to go ½ mile because of a minor ‘incident.’

I’m pretty lucky as I have a “Reverse Commute” every day. I’m headed South on the 110, watching the traffic headed North stack up before it even gets to Carson St.
Same thing coming home in the afternoon.
The only time it gets bad is when I go to my girlfriend’s place after work. The 710 North is murder in the afternoon.

It’s been over 10 years since I used to commute to Pico Rivera and more than 20 years since I commuted to Fullerton - both in the lower volume direction. Pretty good commutes unless there is an accident or incident, then all bets are off.
Fortunately, I commute nine miles each way on surface streets for the remainder of the next few months - then I’M OUTA HERE!

New job or leaving The People’s Republik?

Retiring - hopefully relocating to a place where our Utah CCW permits will be 100% recognized.
Arizona, maybe. The better half was born near Ft. Huachuca.

Well, I wish you joy and happiness!
I’ve got a Utah CCW, too. Got through one of Edmund’s classes. Not much good here, but it’s neat to have, I guess!
