Clickable Image: Mini Pooper and a ‘Vette
While out for a stroll today, I passed these two vehicles in a parking lot near the office. I thought “Man, these two are diametrically opposed in more ways than just their compass headings.”
This is a (partial) list of antonyms:
- underpowered vs. powerhouse
- homely vs. handsome
- sluggish vs. responsive
- boxey vs. sleek
- mini vs. max
- green vs red (green vs. carbon footprint maybe?)
Any more?
Anyone, anyone . . . ?

Well, to be fair, the Mini S (which that might or might not be - I cannot see the hood scoop clearly in the picture) has one of the better mass-to-HP ratios on the market currently, and is considerably more affordable than its competitor there. I would wager it has better slalom times, too…
*does not own one, just did 0-90 up a highway onramp when test driving one once*

Fair enough . . .
Since the Mini shown is a convertible, it will have lost some weight advantage due to the under body truss needed in lieu of the cantilever provided by a hard top.

Yeah, I did the research, and the Mini loses by twice as much to the Corvettes HP/weight ratio. Still, the S version can get up and move, and the Cooper Works S version is absurd.
I will buy the other comparisons, though ;).

I went to Cooper’s website to have a look around. Pretty impressive Flash® stuff:
