Speaking as a proud owner of an M1A SOCOM II, I have a few comments.
First, it is worth the money. Everyone who has shot mine has thoroughly enjoy it, and I still get a blast out of it every time I take it to the range. Good, solid weapon.
Second, the beast is heavy. Thankfully, the lower portion of the VLTOR rail system can be removed, but it still weighs more than the first-variant SOCOM. Additionally, that weight is mostly clustered in the nose, which is ok (and, I think, desirable) when you are using a bipod with it, but a gun like this should not need one of those to be used effectively. That said, when all else fails, it would make a bang-up club.
Third, she is loud, no doubt about that. From behind, you cannot really tell, but people did not appreciate me using it in indoor ranges.
Fourth, the muzzle brake works like a charm - almost no recoil, between the weight and the brake, and I have never had a problem with a FTF, FTE, or anything of the nature (with somewhere near 1000 rounds through mine by now).
I htink that is about it, for now. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a note.

bloody details…
Thanks to a not-so-righteous hack of BlogRolling a little while back, that fun little system remains down, with no ETA of the return of services. As such, this post will stand in the place of me going through and trying……
