Head Shots

Today’s ten-round, ten-second, shoot-at-the-nose drill. No ‘to whom it may concern’ rounds at seven yards. I’ve done worse.

One Step Closer

I completed the training and safety demonstration today. Now to the punch list items - finger prints, photo, notary and submit. Then in about 60 days, I should have this . . .

Profanity at the pump

Commemorating those who voted against drilling in ANWR in 2006 (yes, most are democrats):

The following names are entered into the Minstrel Book of Profanities, with dishonorable mention to Bill $&*#@ Clinton, for his veto when the Drill-ANWR bill passed Congress during his administration:

Plus P Plus

plus-p-plus.jpgNow this is some purdy ammo: Winchester 9mm 127 grain +P+ Luger.

From gun-tests.com:

9mm +P and +P+ Cartridges: Winchester & Remington Win

These rounds should have more pop than standard-pressure 9mm Parabellum cartridges, and in three cases we found that to be true — the winners shoot on par with .357 Magnums.

The 9mm Parabellum cartridge (commonly called 9mm Luger in the US) has traditionally been loaded more lightly on this side of the Atlantic than in Europe. The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturing Institute (SAAMI) has set a pressure ceiling for standard pressure 9mm Para at 35,000 pounds per square inch (psi). By contrast, NATO pressure ceiling is 42,000 psi. In-between U.S. standard pressure 9mm and NATO spec, we have two options. 9mm +P has a SAAMI pressure ceiling of 38,500 psi. There’s no SAAMI spec for 9mm +P+; that’s just a way of saying its pressures exceed +P standards.

I guess I’m gonna have to load up a magazine full of these expensive rounds and try ‘em out with “Little Boy,” my Glock 26 (which is rated for these).

Second Amendment Scroller Widget

While driving home in the truck this afternoon, it occurred to me that nowhere on my second amendment oriented blog can you find the actual words of 2A. Therefore, I intend to work this second amendment scroller widget seen below into the header or something. Stay tuned . . .

UPDATE (6/18): The widget is now in place . . .

Kill Bill - A Classic Flick

kill_bill.jpgLast week, I wrote about watching an entertaining flick Sunday night to take my mind off of Monday morning’s impending trip back to work. Well, I did that again by digging out an oldie but gory - Kill Bill, both parts 1 and 2. Entertaining stuff - no brains required.

Another flick I recently watched, ‘Running Scared,’ claimed that ‘this makes Kill Bill look like Sesame Street.’ Wrong. While Running Scared, in it’s own right is a very good guns and action flick, it did not have the amputated heads, limbs, the blood spurting like oil gushers into cascading rivulets of blood and the animé cartoons.

Wholesome entertainment for the Sunday night blues.

Another Purdy Glock

This is my Glock 30 - “Fat Man” - all nice and cleaned up after shooting today.
