I always knew there were plenty of dicks in the world, but this Democrat from Washington State (literally) fits his name.

Dicks says he’ll block efforts to lift gun ban

dicks.jpgWASHINGTON – With a showdown looming, U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks (D - WA) says he’s prepared to block any effort by the administration to lift the current ban on carrying loaded weapons in national parks.

It’s not an idle threat.

As chairman of the House Appropriations interior subcommittee, Dicks oversees the National Parks Service’s annual budget and is in a position to prevent the administration from dropping the Reagan-era ban. While the Washington Democrat is usually reluctant to add legislative provisions to his spending bill, he is ready to make an exception in this case even if it prompts a presidential veto.

“Every now and then something rises up that needs to be fought and this is one of them,” Dicks said.

Somebody ought to point out to Dicks that in 2006, national parks were the scenes of 11 killings, 35 rapes or attempted rapes, 61 robberies and hundreds of other violent crimes. None of these victims had the right to protect themselves.

Dicks thinks that because when Reagan was in office, then Secretary of Interior Watts (a controversial choice) enacted the law that it should be good enough for all of us and stand as is.

Hey, Dicks - it was a bad law then and it’s a bad law now.

What did they say in Team America? Something about Dicks and Assholes . . .
