Help Wanted

help-wanted

Wanted: an assistant capable of hanging up a “HELP WANTED” sign.

Seriously - anybody making minimum wage is usually incapable of minimal job performance - nor do they possess the most minimal concept of “CUSTOMER SERVICE.”

Let’s face it - when the Democrats jack up the minimum wage, it seldom results in any improvements to the quality of life. In fact it results in raising costs to suppliers of goods and services who will always pass it along to the consumer. That amounts to a tax increase any way you look at it. Even upside-down.

Acknowledgements and a Gun Pinup

Over the last several days, traffic on this site has jumped up quite a bit, primarily because of a couple of nice links from Say Uncle and Ride Fast and Shoot Straight - thanks guys. Thanks also to The Duck and Brian, whose comments were very helpful. It’s nice to see so much support from the pro-second amendment folks.

Since I don’t have much else to say today, please enjoy this nice picture of my freshly-cleaned Glock 26 9mm pistol.

Now, while I doubt that Synchronized Global Orgasms for Peace will generate enough Karma to fix all the World’s problems, It might be fun to try.

GBSU* Flix

cast“Live Free or Die Hard,” starring Bruce Willis and the “Hello-I’m-A-Mac” guy, had all the super-contrived elements of every one of it’s predecessor “Die Hard” flix: a seemingly well-organized and invincible arch enemy seeking revenge or destruction or both, versus the only cop with renewable vitality and the uncanny ability to dodge bullets with Neo-like agility.

Takin’ a lickin’ and still keeps on tickin’ Willis manages to achieve improbable feats in order to take down the bad guys - and girls. He shoots down helicopters with cars and rams an SUV up the ass of the principal bad guy’s martial arts chick/lover.

A very satisfying array of visual action and super-cool special effects. I think I’ll put this one back in the DVD player and watch it again.

Applications for Gun Permits Double

What would make applications for gun permits double from one week to the next? Violent gun crime is the answer in this case.

In Douglas County, Nebraska, the site of the recent shootings in a “gun free zone,” Chief Deputy Marty Bilek said his department issued 43 certifications in the week before the shootings — in the week following, they issued 105.

While violence is always abhorrent, it does serve to wake people up to the brutalities of life - take the American response to the attacks of 9/11/2001 - people rallied to the cause, flew flags and got behind the nation as it went to war with terror.

Sadly, too many complacent Americans have hit the snooze alarm.

Did You Know . . .

Did you know that since 1991, the number of privately owned firearms in the U.S. has increased by 65-70 million, the number of right-to-carry states has increased from 15 to 40, and violent crime has decreased 38%?

Did you know that a survey of prison inmates indicated that only 0.7% had obtained their firearms from gun shows?

Did you know the center-fire rifle most commonly used for marksmanship training and competition in the United States is the AR-15, arbitrarily defined as an “assault weapon” under the former Clinton Gun Ban and currently under some states’ laws?

Did you know that according to a recent report for Congress on foreign country gun laws states, “From available statistics, among the [27] countries surveyed, it is difficult to find a correlation between the existence of strict firearms regulations and a lower incidence of gun-related crimes?

Did you know that anyone who tells you that legally-owning and carrying a firearm poses a threat to the public and that all gun ownership should be outlawed is full of ?

I bet you DID know that last one.

Gun Sentiments in America

About two out of three people recently polled believe that gun ownership is an individual right. 65 percent say that the Constitution ensures that right, while only 31 percent disagree. That’s over 2 to 1 in favor, right?

Country folks polled tended to be considerably more pro-gun than their urban counterparts. Now, while hunting and fishing are important to rural folks, shouldn’t the right of self-defense from widespread urban crime be a factor in cities and towns? I bet there would be higher gun favorability in urban areas if it weren’t for the anti-gun crap being fed by unionized teachers to kids in school and for the socialist-leanings of the media. The Brady campaign doesn’t help either.

Another trend that seemed a little backwards to me is that 72 percent of men were likely to favor gun ownership, but only 58 percent of women - ladies, you should realize that owning and carrying a gun goes a long way toward equalizing you with would-be attackers.

The real deal here is that if someone doesn’t get this majority voting block motivated to oust gun-grabbing politicos, we’re all going to suffer the consequences.

Fat Man and Little Boy

I decided to name my Glock 30 and my Glock 26 pistols. I think the names fit.
